October 1st, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

The American Dietetic Association’s annual Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo is coming up in a few weeks. FNCE 2009 will be held in Denver Oct 17-20, and as in previous years will draw thousands of dietitians, health professionals, and food companies from across the country.

If you are planning to attend or exhibit, I’ll be happy to meet you and discuss all things tasty, healthy, and fun.

If you can’t make it, please be sure to check in on this blog and on twitter. Fooducate will be blogging and twittering from the conference and expo. And if there’s something you’d like to check out, let me know.

The lineup this year is very promising.

There are plenty of interesting sessions planned for the conference. For example:

  • Funding Nutritional Research – Who can You Trust?
  • The Rising Tide of Food Allergies
  • The Role of the Dietitian in the Green Movement
  • Good Calories, Bad Calories: A Critical Look at the Science
  • The Impact of Food Labeling Systems on the Grocery Industry and Consumers

The Expo will showcase several topics in 4 separate pavilions:

  1. Gluten-free: Exhibitors in this pavilion are suppliers and manufacturers of “gluten-free” products and information. This is a very fast growing market segment.
  2. Natural & Organic: Another rapidly growing food segment featuring specialty and natural grocery produce, dry snacks, and beverages from organic producers and manufacturers.
  3. California Fresh: This pavilion will showcase food products, services and technologies from California-based exhibitors. Fresh, Yummy, Good.
  4. Fit & Healthy: Not food, rather tools to help you stay lean and fit.

All in all, this looks to be a very educational
