Just type in your search term in the search box and click the search button. Try to be as precise as
possible. For example, instead of typing in "cereal", type "cascadian farm almond crunch cereal".
How does Fooducate grade a product?
Our grading algorithms have been developed by nutrition professionals and dietitians. They are based on
the concept of nutrient density of foods. The more nutrient dense a food is, the better it is for you. We
take into account the nutrition facts panel, the ingredients listed, and the product category. For a more
detailed explanation, please read our post
on this subject
Are artificial colors really that dangerous?
Depends who you ask. Some studies have shown a connection between articial dyes and hyperactivity in
kids. Others did not. In the UK, warning labels are required when a product uses artificial colors. This has
caused all the manufacturers to switch to natural colorings. Unfortunately, here in the US, it's
business as usual. We believe consumers' health shouldn't be compromised while science is trying to make up
its mind.
Why doesn't any product get an A+?
If you grow it in your backyard or buy directly from a farmer, give yourself an A+.
Why doesn't any product get an F?
If it fills your tummy, ANY food has served an important service. Remember, millions of people around
the world still go to bed hungry every night.

How are healthier alternatives selected?
An alternative product MUST score higher than the product being viewed. If the current product is a top
scorer, the alternatives will be of a similar grade. Alternatives are chosen from the same product category,
or similar categories.
Can I customize the grades and recommendations based on my dietary needs?
Yes, but you need to be a premium user of our iOS or Android app.
I searched for a product but Fooducate doesn't have it. What do I do?
Fooducate's goal is to help people improve their health through better food. The Fooducate app has helped
millions of Americans learn what's really in their food and lose weight by tracking the quality of their
calories.
